2.) That pisses me off too - the whole "LAWLBISHIECANDONOWRONG" attitude the vast majority of fanbrats have, while just being a female character is the bane of their existence. Some of the most awesome characters I seen, game, anime and other-wise have been women.

2. I find that most people just use that as an excuse just because said lead female gets in the way of their beloved's buttseckz... but I still agree; got, those people need to GROW UP.
organiccyborg: (Sengoku + Muromachi [do you wanna?])

2. I ♥ this one. I'm not an Escaflowne fan, but I agree with the idea behind what you're saying.

4. I had that happen to me. It really is weird. D:

2. I have noticed that, and I'm sad to admit that I tend to judge some canon girls as sues too. I'm looking at you, Kairi from Kingdom Hearts. Yes, I like this character, but god, could everyone in the game like, not elevate her onto a pedestal all the time? Most of the scenes of the game that had her in it were pretty much a demonstration of how SUPER SPECIAL AWESOME Kairi was. She doesn't need that. She's good enough on her own.

But I'm also an equal opportunity person. I also pick on any perfect boys I find. ♥ The problem really, is that it seems like male heroes seem to have had more time spent on them for character development while some girls look like they were taped onto the side as an afterthought.

Also, I think there's some subconscious need to make the girls much more perfect or stronger, so they can fit in with "the guys." The problem comes when some people tend to overdo it.

2. Ugh, definitely. .__. (And also, Hitomi! ♥ Wow, I haven't watched Escaflowne in forever...)

7. MY EYES.

2. I still have a lot of trouble wrapping my mind around the concept of a canon female character being called a "Mary Sue". Because she's strong and independent? Sorry, does not compute. I do dislike whiny overly angsty female characters but then I also dislike whiny overly angsty MALE characters. I spent a lot of time when I first played FFVII yelling at Cloud, "What the hell's the matter with you!?"

7. If this is the type of work this artist does all the time I don't think I would want to get within ten feet of him/her.

10. ok, I surrender. I am going to have to look this up and find out what the hell it's all about. :P

2. WORD.

THANK GOD SOMEONE ELSE SEES THIS. NOTHING PISSES ME OFF MORE THAN EVERY FEMALE CHARACTER ON EARTH GETTING INSULTED FOR BEING COMPETENT AT SOMETHING.

2. Yeah. I don't get it. I'm tired of seeing all these female characters being labled as Mary Sues. But male characters can do no wrong. I think my biggest pet peeve was when a lot of Castlevania fangirls started bashing Maria Renard one day for no other reason than the fact that if you play the game correctly, she -- albiet reluctantly -- follows Alucard and is assumed to become a romantic interest of his.

4. Yeah. I'd appreciate that, as well.

7. Is that who I think it is? If so her art has annoyed me for years ... and her fic writing is just as godawful. Eww. Just no.

12. As little as I venture the yaoi/slash route, I'm actually a fan of this. XD I remember when the first movie came out on the dvd, the director's commentary (or something of the like) commented on them fighting like an old married couple.

I squeed inside. ♥

7. I no longer feel bad about thinking her work blows chunks. It's a load off my chest to be able to say that. Thank you, fandom secrets! :D

4. Some people don't like to be recced. I've heard that some people get all pissy when they find out they've been recced.

12. That's one of the most awesome OTPs ever.
