Hell, I'm a straight guy and I don't like most fanservice. It feels cheap, dishonest, and skeevy. Worse, it's kind of offensive to me, because it feels like the creators have a really fucked-up image of what I, the straight guy, am like. They think I like cheap, dishonest, and skeevy, and that I consider tits or panty shots or whatever to be more important than narrative. That's a lousy thing to be called by strangers, you know?
That said, I do think there's ways to do fanservice well. When it doesn't come at the expense of story or character, when it feels authentic within the universe of the show, and when it's got a bit of self-awareness... then it's not so bad, and I can enjoy a little eye candy without feeling jerked out of the story or having my intelligence insulted.
