Oh, me too. I would gladly commission fanfics for the same reason.
The closest I've ever come is to 'buy' a fic offer as part of fundraisers for charity. In both cases it wasn't as happy an experience as I'd hoped, though, as the writers didn't love their prompts and complained about it on their f'lists (which I could see). One eventually wrote a fabulous fic for her prompt; the other didn't even try, but wrote a story on a topic she liked better. Fifty per cent isn't a bad payoff overall, but hearing the complaints... well, let's just say I'm leery of doing it again. Next time I'll just contribute to the charity and skip the fandom part.
