If you can't open up to your therapist and you don't think they understand you, you do not have a relationship with that therapist that will let you heal.

TELL your therapist that you don't think they understand, find out WHY you feel like that so you can either mend the therapeutic relationship or find another shrink who's better suited to your needs.

You cannot expect for professional help to work if you can't or won't open up to your practitioner and a fictional character is not ever going to be a substitute for the kind of support and insight another human being can give you.

Having Ed to talk to is good if it helps you, but it won't fix everything. You've taken the step of getting help in the first place, now you need to take steps to get you more properly specialized help. You need trust and faith in the care and understanding of your therapist before they can help you with anything.

Please trust me on this one, I've switched therapists twice and I've had to work hard on a relationship with the one I have now, but now that I've built the right relationship with her everything I've worked towards is coming together so much better because of our improved communication.

I really hope you can work through this too.
