Fandom Dreams

Anyone have any memorable fandom dreams?

I had one where I tried to pitch a script to JJ Abrahms. At his house in Ohio. And told him I was in sixth grade even though I'm in my late 20s. The kitchen had a claw foot tub in the middle of it, but I never figured out why.

a while ago, I dreamed that joaquin phoenix punched me in the face. I don't know why. I've irrationally resented him for it ever since

I have the opposite with Jack Black. I'm irrationally fond of him because I once dreamt that we went on a date and he was super nice.

I have fandom dreams every night. I'd say 90% of my dreams are fandom ones. I think it is the combination of my semi-lucid dreaming and my very active daydreaming.

Lets see. Last night, I found a time machine and time travelled back to join the Fellowship. Then I was attending Hogwarts. Then SG1 came to my school and needed my help with something (never figured out what it was). There were also a few sexy fandom dreams.

A few years ago, I had a dream that Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert were making out at gas station while I got a slurpee. It was confusingly arousing

I had a very weird dream about Brandy & Mr. Whiskers once years ago, but for the most part my dreams aren't fandom related.

I'm in a disused classroom or office at my school. It's dim, unlit, the blinds dusty and half down, and full of old institutional stuff: filing cabinets, a trash can, a busted swivel chair, a dusty desk with a huge old monitor and a whole mess of staplers and old keyboards and other office junk. I'm sitting at the desk in my coat--the room is cold--going through a carton full of papers. sealed in old, battered manila envelopes. They turn out to be fanfics by someone who was big in Weiss Kreuz fandom back then. I remember thinking "Oh please, not another AU fic starring Passive!Damsel-In-Distress!Aya," even though in waking life I know that's not one of this particular writer's tropes--it's somebody else's.

I begin reading one fic that's more like a disorganized pile of chapters, notes and sketches, some in sequence and some not, and if it's a WK fic, it's very AU. In the first chapter, a young man is dining at a restaurant with his cousin. He is handsome, rich, stupidly naive, and his cousin is plotting to swindle him out of his inheritance. Flipping through a bunch of sealed envelopes to find the next bit, I choose one that seems promising and rip it open. Here, the young man's friends (more like ex-friends) are gossiping heartlessly about how he has drifted into prostitution and downright beggary after losing all his money. (At this point, I'm thinking Wait, wait, how is this even a Weiss AU? and Geez, what is it with WK and prostitution?)

I come across a page with a photograph of a priest taped or glued to it; the figures in the photograph begin to move, and I'm somehow sucked into the picture. The priest--he's dressed all in white and looks something like Pope John Paul II--drinks holy water out of a big, ornate cup, then walks around an altar that's been placed on a beach, stopping at each side of the altar to pour holy water onto the sand. The sky is overcast and the altar cloth is flapping in the wind; there's a big crowd of people watching, and I get the idea that this is a funeral for one of the characters in the story. Suddenly I'm back in the dim cold room with the desk, and I realize that I've ripped apart this envelope and disarranged the papers and made a mess of them, and how do I explain to the author about messing up her papers?

I'm unreasonably upset about this and begin looking for a manila envelope to replace the one I've ripped, and the dream segues into another one where my neighbor's grandkids walk into my house through the back door, explaining to me that their grandfather told them they could cut through my house on the way to his anytime. It was one of those dreams where you wake up and it takes a while for you to reassure yourself that it was only a dream, because my neighbor is an insufferable boundary-stomping busybody.

OP

That sounds like one hell of a nocturnal adventure. The bit about the figures moving in the photograph reminds me a bit of a story I wrote over a decade ago where pictures moved to depict new scenes. It was quite the story to write.

Every now and then I used to have a series of dreams, one after another, all in one night--and remember all of them; "nocturnal adventure" is a good word for it. But I used to be much better at remembering my dreams; lately, I hardly remember them at all. TBH, I've begun to wonder if I've developed a sleep disorder where you never fall into deep sleep--maybe that would account for it.

I have many dreams where I'm a character in Doctor Who - a companion but only for that episode (so I'm at more risk of getting killed?). I'm running around and am half aware I'm in a Doctor Who story, and half the character in the dream, and it's always full of intense emotions. Sometimes it's in London and sometimes it's in space, and once in the countryside where I had to hide in a hut and then pick up empty whisky bottles on a beach.

Last night I had a dream I was watching an episode of Bones. It was a new ep as far as my dream self could tell, as there was talk about getting Arastoo out of Iran. The really weird part, though, is Cam was pregnant.

...I don't know anymore. Seriously.

I had a dream a while back about the Beatles. George was all pissed off because his car got towed.
