The future of fandom

Thinking about the future of fandom helps me empathise with ye goode olde dayes romantics. I usually have no emotional patience for that kind of mindset.

I'm such a lurker but I have half a mind to properly step into DW comms just because I feel particularly attached to fandom as I know it lately. But I'm a generally inefficient person so I know not much will come out of it regardless.

I started liking it just when it was getting cool. Then a Cecil race shitstorm got going and I lost interest in fanwork. I give 0 shits if he's headcanoned as whatever race in good faith, canon where I left off was ambiguous, but damn people were (are) sanctimonious. My other issue was the memetic tattooed Cecil. Boring. Then I lost interest in canon cause episodes started feeling too samey (around Yellow Helicopters).

Last I heard there was a book in the works.

How's it like nowadays? Also what do you think about any aspect of it, etc. Feel free.

Haha oh god I love it so much. I'll try to avoid spoilers here.

I've been listening to it since last year, but for some reason, I just started getting really into it now? I'm loving the direction the plot is taking, the characters are getting some great development, and I appreciate a lot of the themes and ideas explored by the show. It's such a refreshing overall hopeful message to see with such relatively dark content.

This all started before I went to the live show, but I did get to go to one recently, and that's definitely influencing my opinion. It was a really good "episode" and an amazing experience!

Have you ever pursued an Advanced Reader's Copy of a book you desperately want to read? Years ago I bought one off ebay (Tamora Pierce's The Will of the Empress) and then when I bough the official copy I gave the ARC to a friend. I really regret giving it away in the end because I can't read the book now without feeling some places that I know got an edit and I can't check it because said friend had no respect for books and it's probably propping up her ex-boyfriend's dining room table by now.

I wish I wasn't so alone in the face of the prospect of going home for the summer vacation. I'm young and I've never had a proper parental figure, and now I feel like I need an older friend who'd sometimes give me advice so badly, but instead I'm going to spend a month in the company of older people whom I cannot trust (and one of whom is my former abuser). I'm also going to be basically cut off even from those of my friends who are my peers.

A while ago I've befriended a former teacher of mine and now I kind of regard her as this older friend I need, but she's never been particularly sympathetic about my abuse history, and some evidence led me to the awful thought that she might be either abusing her own kids or at least be completely unaware what some parenting practices can do to children.

I feel so alone and abandoned by everyone. I feel like I'm carrying a burden I was never meant to carry.

So, I've been heavily involved in some very annoying, very time consuming legal bullshit for the past few months, but my lawyer is reaaaaaallly good and things went in our favor, even more so than he originally thought they would. I was so thrilled about the positive outcome that I...um...blew him in his car. Then we went back to his office and fucked on his desk. It was the hottest, most exciting sexual experience I've ever had.
