I feel like you're trying to tell us something political about this, but I have a feeling your interpretation of 'generic male character' is any character that is somewhere on the gender and sexuality spectrum outside of cishet and white, straight, males instantly come across as objectively boring to you.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-25 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Probably true.

I read it the opposite way, that OP very likely thinks that any straight, white, cis male character is objectively boring.

Yeah, that's what I said.

Oh.

Yeah, I see the typo. I did mean "isn't".

Ah. In that case, I agree with you! *thumbs-up*

Well, "futanari" usually appears in doujins which are based on anime/manga, so I feel like the OP is talking mainly about Japanese characters?

It honestly depends on the genre you're talking about, but a lot of the male protagonists in harem type anime are pretty fucking boring so that pretty much any dude can self-insert as him, while the female characters tend to be more interesting if they're not totally dull archetypes themselves.

Kind of a weird, vindictive secret, though.

OP

I actually didn't realize how vindictive I was at first, since I like genderbend in general. It took me a while to notice that I only liked genderbent rape if the rapist was female, and I liked it a lot more with male characters who annoyed me than with ones I liked. I don't mean any political statement by it, since it's not a thing I consciously chose to like--I simply realized that I liked it.

Ah, I see. Yeah, I'm the opposite. I don't bother with noncon doujins unless the character is one that I like.

Now I'm kind of curious what characters you're referring to because it's not something I see very often.
