Fiction. I haven't read any fanfic in years. But I'm always reading novels.

Fanfiction because it is easier for me to access and the stories are generally shorter.

Fanfiction. It's free, a lot of it is pretty fucking good, and it's easy to find things I like.

Definitely more original fiction.

Fiction. My fandoms are tiny. You could probably read all of the works in a day.

Fiction. I have tiny fandoms and am picky as hell.

Fiction, but generally only one or two books a month because I only read before bed unless the book is super good. I usually read fanfiction in bursts and haven't read any in quite a while, but I read fiction consistently.

It depends?

Almost all of the fanfiction I read is under 20 pages in length (approximately). I'd say that on average I read about 10 fics per week, whereas on average I read only 1 novel per week. On the other hand, most of the novels I read are between 200 and 400 pages in length. 10 fics with 20 pages each adds up to exactly 200, and as I said, most of the fic I read is under 20 pages.

If we're talking 20 fics vs. 1 novel, then I read more fanfiction.

If we're talking under 200 pages of fic vs. 200-400 pages of novel, then I read more fiction.

So yeah, it depends.

I read more fanfiction these days.

The list goes NonFiction->Fanfiction->Fiction...

But the fiction/fanfiction tend to differ from month to month, I guess over a year it averages out.

Fanfiction because there's more of it. I prefer original fiction.

Fiction. Which is saying something because I tend not to read for pleasure much at all these days.

Fanfic. The time breakdown is usually like 70% searching for a really goof fic to 30% reading said fic, but god is that 30% worth it.

Fanfiction. Used to be more fiction, but since I started ploughing through countless journal articles & university textbooks, I just want something light and frivolous to read.

In number of stories, fanfic. In total volume, original fiction.

Fanfic. It's shorter, easier to access, and it's really clear what I'm going to be getting going in.

Recently it's been more fiction. I've been buying more books lately.

Fanfiction, by far. When I was younger I was always looking for my next book, but the internet makes finding fanfic so easy; it's damn tempting to binge read fanfic for pairings or series you like.

Fiction. My fandoms aren't too big, and all the decent writers have wandered away from them. It must be over a year since I've read a good new piece of fanfiction.

Fanfiction. I used to read a lot of books three/four years ago, but it's gotten much harder for me to have new book interests. Fanfiction is easy to connect with, since I already know the characters, and it's much easier to find exactly the things I want.

Fiction. I read around 100 books a year - last year it was mostly rereads, so this year one of my goals is to read at least 50 books that are new to me. I was doing well, but work got overwhelming and somehow this meant comfort reading Daniel Deronda.

My fandoms are small or inactive, so I don't read much fic, maybe one or two a week. I'm interested in reading plotty Sherlock/Lestrade, gen Tiger & Bunny, and KKM Conrad/Yuuri.

Fanfiction because I'm familiar with the characters and can get my wish-fulfillment of character A hooking up with character B. Not that I'm averse to fiction, mind you.

Fanfic, because I can get through three or four moderate to large multi-chapter fics in a week, while it's debatable whether I can afford to pay anything from $22 to $25 for a paperback, and the question of whether I'd find a new book I like is also an issue.
