So basically, exams to get into university?

Sort of? Taking them doesn't automatically enter you into any universities, though. I think they're like exams you take at the end of high school and what level of university you qualify for is based on those grades.

That's kind of what I figured. We have the SATs and the ACTs and they do the same thing - your scores get submitted to any colleges you apply to, but the tests themselves don't do anything except generate that score.
