Worst is when you finish the last book in a series and you have the horrible feling it's the last one.

If it's something that's got character through-lines but self-contained plots, that can be okay. Like, I'd enjoy more Miles Vorkosigan books but if I never get another adventure it's not going to irk me every time I think of the series. It's worse being immersed in a series that's hardly concluded any of its arcs over several books, where everything's a cliffhanger and there's no next installment in sight.
