Re: Themed playlists

(Anonymous) 2014-04-26 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup! I love making playlists. I have a lot that were gifts for other people, so themed on things that I thought they would like at the time. I keep them all organized in folders in my library, separated into: beginnings, ends, chill, holiday, pump up, study, and fuck off. The last category probably has the most, but they're actually mostly just music for when I want to be by myself. Probably my most listened to playlist is "rain, rain stay a day," which is, as the tin says, my rainy day music. It has the following songs:

Grey Room - Damien Rice
Lonelily - Damien Rice
Say Hello Wave Goodbye - David Gray
Freedom - David Gray
Heartbeats - Scala & Kolacny Brothers
Yellow - Scala & Kolacny Brothers
I Shall Believe - Sheryl Crow (I know. But it sounds nothing like her other music.)
Hallelujah - Rufus Wainwright
Since You've Been Around - Rosie Thomas
Eet - Regina Spektor
England - The National
Big Red Machine - Justin Vernon
Home - Joshua Morrison
Passing Afternoon - Iron & Wine
Fresh Pair of Eyes - Brooke Waggoner

I also have a lot of time-themed playlists (aka songs I listened to at a particular time). I give them all names, usually, though. I've got "keep your chin up," "think in circles, walk in circles," "strolling to conclusions," "sleep easy tonight," and "welcome to the next thing," for example.

Are you looking for recs for a particular theme? I love making playlists more than most things, so I'll gladly help out with requests! :)
