??? Why do you keep using this argument over and over? Do you realize that Adventure Time is a show made by humans, which is meant to be watched and understood by humans? The show is made with the intention to elicit responses from viewers and it's absolutely obvious that the things PB does is questionable. You are absolutely supposed to apply human logic and mortality to the show and feel appropriately appalled (or whatever feeling) at it. That's what makes it interesting.

I think what's interesting is that not everyone consumes fiction with that in mind. This is an issue that comes up in so many fandoms where the canon world's internal logic is different from the real world. Harry Potter, for instance. Some readers are horrified by the weird and dubious things that happen in those books because of magic being brushed off as no big deal by the characters, other readers react like the characters and see it as no big deal. So no, not everyone looks at fantasy fiction with the expectation that it's meant to reflect our logic. It seems like it's automatic in some people to look at it that way, and automatic in other people not to.

Yeah, I totally understand and agree. I'm not advocating one over the other--I'm just baffled by that anon's insistence that to react to something from a human standpoint and with human values is inherently wrong, particularly for this thread where we are sharing our opinions about a specific character and they seem to just be using it in an attempt to shut down discussion.
