Much as I found myself digging the look, I had a similar problem with Sebastian Stan's Winter Soldier. His hair was EVERYWHERE. Forget about how grabbable it was, even - his vision, especially periferal, was absolute shit. And the way it hangs in his face, the tips brushing his cheekbones, there must've been MONTHS where it just stabbed him right in the eyes every time he took his goggles off. It still doesn't look long enough to even tie back properly! What were his handlers supposed to be THINKING? Obviously he shaved or got a shave every so often, so WHYYYYYY didn't anyone have the basic common sense to give him a haircut too?!

Yeaaaaaahhh.... I think people are more sensitive to female characters in nonsensical outfits because we see them so much more often, but sometimes the male characters can be pretty damned bad themselves. If I had a nickel for everyone who complained about Ada's shoes in RE4 but didn't mention that Leon's floofy bangs cover his FIRING EYE I'd be rich.
