39. Dammit, now I want to see your videos. I try to be in the fandom on LJ at least, but I just wish the elitists and the crazier of the Doggett/Scully shippers would STFU already. It really is a clusterfuck of a fandom.

And the show might be over, but at least we're getting a new X-Files movie soon! Then you can make more shmoopy vidoes with the footage. ♥

You sound as if you'd never heard of that pairing, and now I envy you because of that. Why? Because it gets worse: one of the Doggett/Scully BNFs likes to present their idea in which Mulder must have raped Scully to get her pregnant, because Scully only felt ~*twoo wuv*~ for Doggett. And that's not even counting the "theory" that Scully's baby was actually fathered by Doggett, and all the fucking around with the timeline that delusion requires.

Every time I see a fic where it goes "Mulder raped me, John!" I just wanna smack the author upside the head. >.< Mulder would never, ever rape Scully... hell, she'll kick his ass before that ever happened. OOCness much?

OOC is right. In order to actually buy the rape theory, it seems like you have to ignore almost all the character development in the show. Not only is it insulting to Mulder, who is usually compassionate to a fault, but to think that someone as self-reliant and generally kickass as Scully would continue to love the man who supposedly raped her...it paints her as supremely weak. She would have torn him a few new holes if he even attempted anything of the sort.

I wouldn't care at all, if D/S was just a crack pairing people liked. I fangirl quite a few crack pairings from various things myself. But when its fans try to present this shit to everyone else as legitimate, while insulting both main characters at once, it borders on sickening.

Trust me, you don't want to see my vids. Soppy isn't the half of it. :)

I got into the show on DVD after it finished, so all I really know about the fandom is what I've seen on fandom_wank, crazy D/S shippers and all. I'm sure that there are lots of sane fen out there, I've just no idea where to start looking!

And yay new movie! (Or, you know, not yay. It's the X-Files: could be the greatest sci-fi thriller ever, could be the most unwatchable pile of dross ever shown on a cinema screen. Still insanely over-excited though!)
