I know. Sometimes I feel like people don't realize that nothing in universally loved. Not liking something is not something to be ashamed of. Billions of people dislike billions of things every single day.

This is true, but some fans* think that if you dislike something, at best, you have bad taste or, at worst, you're whatever-ist and they will treat you as the worst whatever-ist in existence.

*I'm taking fans in general. I honestly don't know if Peggy fans are like this.

Me too. I don't dislike her, but I don't see the appeal.

I found her to be a stereotypical 'strong woman' who was not, in fact, strong. She was also pretty forgettable.

Actually, I liked her better in CA2 than CA1. CA2 got over her lost first love, hand a long and fulfilling career, and and led a full life.

This. I was late to the party (still haven't seen 2) and she was so far below the expectations I had of her from what I'd heard in the fandom.

Whyyyyyyyy would falling in love make a woman strong or not strong?

A lot of my feelings come from that scene where she sees another woman kissing Steve, refuses to communicate, points a gun at him and pulls the trigger. Inside.

You. Do. Not. Fire. Weapons. Inside.

This was the moment I was supposed to relate to this character, but it left me thinking that she's emotionally unstable. It also made me think that if any Army officer, male or female, had fired a weapon indoors at anyone then any NCO I know would've been on his or her ass in a millisecond for being too dumb to wear a uniform.

See, I DO love Peggy, and because of that, I just kind of mentally elide over that scene.

Also, let's run a scenario. Let's say there's a hero, one of those tough-guy heroes, a trained government agent who'll knock a guy on his ass for giving him lip. And he's got a crush on the heroine. He's never told her about this crush, beyond a little flirting that didn't go anywhere, but he feels pretty strongly that she's SUPPOSED to be with him. To the point that when he sees another guy kissing her, he gets really angry and storms off, refusing to listen to her explanation that the guy was kissing her without permission. In the next scene, he tests her untried armor by grabbing a loaded gun and firing it at her without warning.

Not a laugh line now, is it?

I don't think she was not-strong in that she was a weak person, but her character was flat and the scenes the script set up to showcase her as a Strong Female Character (the punching, the shooting - things others in this thread have brought up) were typical Look She's Strong Because She Can Fight And Put Men In Their Place cliches.

This. I really, really hated the scene where she shot Steve's shield and the one where she punched the sexist guy in the face. It seemed like the writers were trying way too hard.

Peggy Carter was one of my favorite things about the Phase 1 movies. But not everyone has to love the same characters so... to each their own?

Also, kinda OT, but I finally got around to watching the Agent Carter one shot last week and omg. PEGGY WAS SO PERF.

Okay I'm a firm Stony Lover and little bit a Sharon/Steve lover too..so GOD really you hate Peggy? Look everyone has the right to a first love and Peggy's amazing I also watched the fallowing movies to see if he'd go see her again. It's like in Heroes(tv) When Herio got a chance to see Charlie again I was all melty inside. Who Steve loves is his business but Peggy was pretty badass even for the marvel universe look at the time she came out off she proved you can be a hero without being super and a female solder in a oppressive time for women.

I don't get your dislike for her so i guess we're even.
