So make up a different persona when you dabble in other fandoms.

Honestly, anyone in "the wider fandom world" who looks down on you can go fart in a paper bag, OP.

(But I do understand, perhaps what you feel, and all I can say is -- if you really feel that uncomfortable, adopt a new fandom name for your "more grown up" fandom activities. That's what I did for quite a few years until I stopped being as embarrassed that I started out writing fanfic for a children's card game :p)

I'm a part of some childish fandoms. I don't think it makes me immature? I like other fans in these fandoms. I'm also a part of some popular fandoms. If I weren't I'd probably wish to branch out a bit because O'm self conscious. Frankly I feel immature being in any fandom. "Oh, you can gift me with Spock's ears, dear friends! Yes, you didn't misheard me."

Do you mean the people in your fandom are childish or the fandom itself is for children? Either way, if you're worried about fandom drama following you, just use a new alias in the new fandom?
