It's more like a common alliance between the people who hate furries and the people who hate men who watch shows like Sailor Moon. And I think there's some feminism-related stuff in the mix as well.

Yeah, bronies were pretty much doomed to be the Internet's punching bag.

To be fair, bronies are guilty of some really awful victim blaming/misogyny. Including blaming prepubescent girls when an adult brony stalked her. First trying to disprove the story/getting proof the story was real/attacking the people involved in any way they could regardless.

I'm not saying other fandoms don't do this, but there is an INTENSE AMOUNT OF IT in the MLP fandom in a really small time frame.
