She died because she is the only secondary character people would give a shit about. If one of her two lab companions had been the ones dying, no one would have been shacked by their deaths , they are too irrelevant. If it was Freddy, she is too unlikable. Beverly, on the other hand, was someone we liked and cared about.

This seems pretty accurate. The lab dudes are okay, but the other secondary characters haven't grown on me the way Beverly did. It sucks when you love the character, but her death was certainly effective and served its purpose.

Hannibal is a horror-thriller show. Beverly was the start. The rest will follow until it grinds down to the match off between Hannibal and Will. So, I don't think anyone should get too attached to any character. They have a clock over their head counting down the time.

Jack will live. if only because IF they get to her, Clarice works with him.

Beverly, if she's who I'm thinking of, wasn't a huge character in Red Dragon anyway. Jack? Jack is a big character in this series. Besides, I want his death like it was in the books.

But then again, i have no faith in this show, so whatever.

Beverly was the logical choice for a death. Plus her death is moving the main plot forward by getting Jack on Team Hannibal is a Cannibal. So... yeah. I'm not indignant over her death. I liked her, for sure. But yeah. It makes sense.

It does make sense for the plot, and I was okay with it...but I *really* don't want to lose Alana or Jack.

Thank you, OP. I wish more people would just say that they're angry and hurt because they loved Beverly and didn't want her to die, instead of tying themselves into knots attempting to argue that they're upset because her death was a betrayal of feminism or something.

I get where you're coming from OP. I was very upset when I heard they were going to kill off Beverly - since, like you said, she was one of the few minor characters I really cared about. (That's probably why they killed her off, since everyone loved her, and they knew it would make more of an impact if, say, they killed off Brian.)

(I'm now pretty worried about Alana or Jack, tbh... and Bedelia!)

I kept watching, since I still enjoy the show (and I want to see what happens when Hannibal gets caught). I think overall, it has gone down a little bit in quality this season. Particularly Episode 7. But even it's "bad" episodes are still a lot better than a lot of other shows on TV at the moment, IMHO.

It's sad that that Bev's death destroyed your enjoyment of it, but I can understand why, since I almost quit at that point, too.

I lost interest after she died.

I was just glad she got a few more episodes, as apparently she was originally to be killed off in season one. But yeah, I can understand. Happened to me with other shows.

I'm still upset about her too. I miss you, Beverly!

I feel you, OP. Bev's death broke my heart. She was my favorite character, but also my role model in a lot of ways, even if that sounds kind of dumb. She was just so awesome. But, unfortunately, I understand why they killed her from a storytelling perspective. I just wish they hadn't. :(

Do people actually care about this character? Granted, I haven't seen much of this show (something like six episodes) but she was in the episodes I saw and she seemed like a typical background character, kind of spunky, pretty competent, sort of bland. I don't get people getting up in arms about a minor character kicking the bucket in a show about cannibalism.

I admit the big reason why I was a bit disappointed Beverly died is that as a Korean-American, it was just nice to see another Korean acting in a prominent role that wasn't stereotypical of her ethnicity.

That said, I'm still digging the show and can't wait to see what's going to happen.
