Seriously, I don't think he could work harder on alienating any women WoW players. Good job there, Metzen. More "boys' trip" bullshit. I think, honestly, he (and his cohorts) are creating the game THEY want to play, and not one the women who play WoW want to play. But we're supposed to be happy with Yrel as a consolation prize. MMmhmmmm.

Yeah, all that Blizzcon hype last year about Yrel being the hero of the Alliance? I was frankly dubious back then, and as more and more comes out it smells more and more like BS, and that she's not going to be much more than (as I saw some one put it) "Maraad's arm candy." Not surprising, as they've paired off everyone but Sylvanas (Jaina with Kalec, Liadrin with Lor'themar) ... Sylvanas will probably take Katrana's place as the Monstrous Female.

Yeeep. After paying WoW since 2005, I finally, finally quit. FFXIV is so different, I love it.

Blizz keeps sending me emails about those chopper videos, I have zero interest in watching one.

Yeah, I finally finally quit a few months ago as well (after playing since vanilla). I poke at GW2 or Rift if I want to shoot firebolts or arrows at something.

I have three friends currently playing in beta. Their opinions are not good, especially if you're looking for better handling of the female portion of the playerbase. Or, in the words of one, it's a game made by and for "dudebros".

Yah .... I've been playing it too. It's got a playful overall style (and the combat is sort of fun) but the female models are ... pretty much of the Tigole Bitts school. Granted, they're going more for a Borderlands/Disney Hercules vibe, but still.

(I think I've been spoiled by Rift. Not only do the Defiants have a kickass faction leader in Asha Catari, the character models for most races don't feel like they just slapped huge boobs on everything.)



And with GW2's offering lore characters like Caithe and Eir, I have two games -- both free to play -- with female characters that outclass what the competition wants me to pay $15 a month for. Gee, I don't think that decision will take much mulling.

Yep. And FFXIV takes it the other direction -- men can and do show just as much skin as female characters. This was my character at one point, but he's been a lot less dressed at certain stages:



The male characters have really nice models, but in a realistic way. None of WoW's EVERYTHING MUST BE COVERED IN MUSCLES! COVER MUSCLES IN MUSCLES! crap. Don't let my pasty white thighs turn you off the FFXIV male models. :P

WoW officially jumped the shark for me when Tides of War took a historical account of Hiroshima, substituted in the appropriate Azerothian words ('mana bomb') and called it a day. Oh, and when Jaina said her father was right.

To be honest, I'm glad they haven't done anything with Tyrande in WoW other than positioning her as Malfurion's arm candy. Every time they touch a WC3 woman everything goes to shit.
