You know, it's very hard for people either disagree or sympathize if you don't actually say what the things that bothered you were, OP! Come on, you don't have to name the movie or anything. Just make it possible to understand what you're talking about.

This secret is confusing. What horrible things? Did the people in fandom do horrible things, or the actors in the movie? Or is it just the actions of the characters OP is upset about?
And why is the OP somehow responsible for their actions?

Though just based on the article, it seems like a long reach to argue that everybody in the films "knowingly enabled" the sexual abuse.

I've seen people do it when they go really indepth describing the mindset in a way that can upset people who have experienced it and are afraid of falling back into it. I wouldn't lecture someone for not warning for it but it's nice when people do.

OP. OP OP OP. Gonna assume you're talking about X-Men here.

You are not responsible for what Bryan Fuller did. In anyway. Nor, for that matter, are his co-workers, who from what I can tell knew nothing about Fuller's actions. But the take home message is definitely: you are not in anyway connected to this. Don't think for a second that you are. And neither were your fandom friends.

However, it definitely sounds like you need a break from your fandom at the moment. Maybe from fandom in general. Read or watch something that has nothing to do with your previous fandom, and don't look for its fandom on the internet. Just enjoy it for what it is. Do something productive whenever you start thinking about your fandom, like going for a walk or cooking or painting your nails - whatever works. Talk to a friend about this if you feel comfortable. Definitely tell your therapist if you have one - and consider talking to one, or at least a counsellor, if you don't.

You are strong OP, and you deserve to take a break and take care of yourself. Things will get better, I promise. Take care.
