I love riding my bike

[personal profile] iceyred 2014-05-02 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Whenever I ride my bike to work, my day goes well. I had a great day. Stuff got done. My supervisor was supportive and didn't make me deal with bullshit and the bulls that produce said shit. I bought a piece of chocolate.

How was your day?

Dude, biking is so much fun. I love it. I was serious when I said I never have a bad day when I bike to work. It's amazing.

One of the few things I miss about my old job is riding my bike to work for the third shift. The gas station where I worked is literally the busiest stretch of non-highway road in Michigan outside of metro Detroit, and I lived about a mile straight up said stretch of road at the time... but at 10:30 at night, after all the malls and stores were closed and the traffic had already cleared out, the road was quiet enough that when I had to cross to the other side, I would just ride out some parking lot driveway into the street and sometimes I'd hang out in the center turn lane of the 5-7 lanes that are usually packed. :D Good burst of adrenaline to wake me up at the start of my day, too.

My day... hmm. Was tired of being nauseated all day every day, so this morning I decided to just not eat. Worked well enough I was feeling decent enough to go to the store this afternoon, and one of the things I bought was tiramisu gelato. And since I hadn't eaten all day until the afternoon, I was feeling un-nauseated enough to have a couple spoonfuls. ...I think I'm not going to have breakfast tomorrow either, unless it's more of that tiramisu gelato.

After that though, I did start feeling nauseated while I was out trying to run more errands, and the store I was at didn't have the delicious-sounding drink I stumbled across the page for late last night. :( I suspect the other area store listed on the manufacturer's site will indeed carry it, but they're really expensive compared to more generic "grocery" stores, so I was really hoping I wouldn't have to go there...

Biking to work is one of my favorite parts of my day.

Sorry to hear about your nausea. :(

Eh, the nausea's been an everyday thing for three years now, so the occasional worsening has become an irritation rather than a cause for alarm or dismay. That in itself is pretty depressing, I suppose. :P

And one of the things that ticks me off about it is that now I can't take in enough calories that I can afford to burn them by doing things like riding my bike. I can't do it to work anymore, couldn't even if I was healthy due to having moved AND gotten a different job further away, but when I get an evening when it's around 50 degrees, I think of those nights and want to just get on and take a spin around the neighborhood at least, maybe down to the convenience store a few blocks away to buy something incredibly unhealthy to eat or drink while I catch my breath... =)

I wish I could ride a bike but I don't have one and there's not really a place to ride.

My day/week has been pretty shit, tbh.

Part of my route is rather...a thrill ride. Hooray for no curbs on sidewalks!

Sorry about your day/week.

By bike, you mean bicycle, right? The only reason I don't ride my motorbike everywhere is the fact that it rains all the time around here. My dad does it, and he comes home sopping wet exactly half of the time.

I've been awake for two hours now but I haven't done much yet. Will start studying soon. I need to STOP playing video games, I always end up spending the first couple hours of my day catching up on Pokemon trades and things like that!

Yep, bicycle. I love it.

What video games are you playing?

Pokemon and Professor Layton, I'm also replaying Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies, but I can usually refrain from that one in the mornings. Pokemon is my greatest diversion because I play it very socially and most people who I can play it with live on the other side of the globe so the only time I can deal with them are during the mornings ... these games are ruining me.

those are all good things!

my day was pretty alright, generally relaxing and such. It's nice to be home and not have homework for a while.

I also had a lovely ride to work this morning. Good weather, and once everything starts blooming, I love the trees & gardens I cycle past. Nothing sprouting just yet (late spring), but I did ride past numerous pigeons, two mallards and two Canada geese. Made me happy.
