Those times that generally good characters did something really really bad

(Anonymous) 2014-05-02 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
And did you like the way the situation was portrayed or not? And was the really bad thing they did something that made them less sympathetic, more sympathetic, or as sympathetic as before?

Also, you can include instances where it's not clear in-canon if the character did a really bad thing or not.

I'd say Jamie Lanister in all caps but I don't think that would be enough. Also, what was up with them acting like it never happened. It's so bizarre

I think its a bit of a stretch to say he was a generally good person at the time he pushed Bran out the window.

Now, yes, he's more of a good person. Then, though? No. I'd say more that he was a bad person who had limits and who chose to kill the king because he had those limits.

Well, the Doctor is mostly a good person, but he's done a whole lot of really, really bad things. Sometimes he's called out on it in-show and sometimes he isn't.

Don't get me started with what Batman did to KGBeast back in the 80s. And that one was canon!

I read about that recently (don't blame me, I'm only knowledgeable about Marvel). You know what's funny? Little kid me had always thought heroes killed villains and henchmen and bystanders all the time. It was only when I became an adult and got back into comics that I realized they were supposed to always have escaped/survived/only been knocked out xD

A lot of the things Hermione did in Harry Potter :-\ She's my favourite character - partially because she IS so flawed - but jeez, I do wish the narrative would have pointed out some of the stuff she did was pretty horrible (the ones coming to mind are capturing and blackmailing Rita, Marietta's SNEAK curse, and erasing her parents' memories without their consent).
