My fandom is somewhat small. There are two parts of the fandom: one who likes canon just as it is, and one who enjoys transforming canon and has an extensive fanom (this faction is also bigger). I like both parts of the fandom, but I tend to enjoy more the latter. However, my fandom blog is more conservative, and I post both things canon and fanon.

The thing is, the part of my fandom who likes canon things tend to be really nasty about the other part of the fandom (the other part of the fandom tends to be like more "live and let live"). Although I also like fanworks who adhere to canon, I am disgusted by that part of the canon fandom "I'm holier than thou" attitude.

For some reason, however, a lot of people from that side of the fandom follows me, and when I check their blogs I usually find a post mocking the fanon side of the fandom or gloating about how they are the sane ones.

Ugh. I feel uncomfortable, because now that I know some of them follow me, I feel insecure about posting about the things I like. D:

Post anyway! It's your blog and if they don't like seeing what you post, they don't have to follow you. You have no obligation to stop enjoying things you like because some people feel the need to be assholes.

The only precaution I would take is to turn off anon asks if you haven't already. This'll cut down their ability to mindlessly lash out at you without consequences, and if someone does start in with nasty asks, you can just hit 'ignore' and you won't have to deal with them anymore.

That's why I like to ask this sort of things here. You guys here at FS! always tend to put things in perspective for me.

They obviously like what you post or they wouldn't follow you, so I think you're okay.

Don't be afraid to block them if you think they're going to cause a problem.

I put them on whatever kind of block system the website is then carry on my merry way enjoying whatever however i want.
