Post your recommendations for June's book here. Will compile all books into a poll in a few days. Now would be the time to sell us on your selection.

Also, feel free to discuss this month's book, Fingersmith at any point before the end of this month, just please, for any discussion before 31st, please mark for spoilers (Something like "spoilers for chapter 1" or whatevs.)

How about "Shogun" by James Clavell?

I've always wanted to read that and, for reasons I can't explain, just haven't yet.

This would be a pretty good excuse!

I bought it years ago, but just never got around to reading it. So I was selfish in recommending it, as it'd be a pretty good excuse for me too!

I so loved that book. And the mini-series. After the mini-series came out i had to get the book and roll around in it. It's pretty huge, though - did we decide on a length limit? I can't remember.

Fabulous book! However, it took me about six months to read. Maybe one of Clavell's shorter books, like King Rat?

Great book, but it's enormous. There are probably a lot of people who don't have the time to finish it in a month.

The Emperor's Soul, by Brandon Sanderson. It's a novella, so that might disqualify it, but it won the 2013 novella Hugo. It's philosophical enough to have a good talk about it, but short enough to read fairly quickly.

What about Dealing With Dragons / The Enchanted Forest Chronicles.

They're old, so it's possible we've all read them already, but if not...

You've got a princess who runs away to a dragon and a knight who won't catch a hint and a ton of society building with the dragons. It's not a huge book, but it is very enjoyable, especially as a summer read.

Ahhh I love this series so much, I read it a million times as a kid and it really shaped me as a person!
