So I have this random phrase in my head, spoken by someone. The phrase is 'Sweet 'n Low?' Only it's said in this low voice and in my head it sounds like William DaFoe.

So was there a movie or maybe something on TV where William DaFoe ever said this particular phrase? Maybe I'm thinking of that Irish boys movie that for the love of god I've forgotten the title of but one the actors is apparently now in AMC's 'Walking Dead' series.

I hate it when I have random things in my head and I can't tie them to where they belong!

OMG I hate that too. Eventually I figure them out or forget them, but I know the exact feeling.

I was going crazy once because I had this one couplet from a song stuck in my head-- "A pal of mine has bought a car / A second-handed Jag-u-ar"-- and I couldn't remember for the life of me what the rest of it was or who it was by. Eventually I figured out it was "If It Wasn't for the Unions", but it was driving me nuts for days.

It's from Boondock Saints, I think. He's asking the asshole cop for coffee and requests it with Sweet and Low.

Ah-ha! So I was on the right path it just didn't connect right. And thank you for the movie name too.

Many thanks anon!

I hate that too! One I've had for YEARS that just randomly pops into my head at different times is someone saying "Assalamu alaikum*, mate" possibly in an Australian accent (or it may not be and the "mate" is confusing me).

I have NO FRIGGING CLUE what it's from and it drives me insane because it's been AT LEAST ten years, possibly even longer, since I first heard it and I still can't figure it out.

*Hopefully I spelled it right since I had to google it and apparently there are different variations.

Well, I don't know if this helps, but Google tells me it was used in the movie Varsity Blues by "Moxin's brother to the guy at the checkout counter".

I have no idea what any of those words mean, but.

OMG thank you! The timeline is about right so there's a good chance that's it. I've googled it so many times using several spelling variations and keyword combinations but I've never been able to find anything so you are awesome!
