I'm so sick of fandom on tumblr at the moment. My current ship is really popular; probably the most popular one in its fandom, however the tumblr 'BNFs' all seem to hate it, and they enjoy mocking anyone who likes it. It's tiring as all hell, and I've began to dislike anything to do with the fandom as a result. Anybody else in a similar situation?

Yeah, I've just stay away from tumblr now. It's a cesspool of negativity 97% of the time.

Yeah. I follow some BNFs who like to mock certain popular ships and fandoms that I know they know a lot of their followers are fans of. The existence of tumblr savior makes it even more annoying that they do it, because they can blacklist titles and ship names to avoid seeing real posts from the fans about those things. But they can post their mockery for everyone and we can't exactly blacklist that.

My fandom is weird. One of the BNFs rarely posts fandom-related things, but when she does, it's something really good that you don't want to miss out on, so you sort of have to put up with her randomness. And her regular drunken "men are scum" posts. I realize that men are the minority in this fandom, but we are there and you get along great with us usually, so... please stop.

why would you do that? what a waste of energy, and way to be an asshole.

i suggest you unfollow these BNFs or at least try to get all that negative crap off your dash.

Similar situation.

For the first time in my life I like the most popular ship in my fandom (I used to like unpopular ships so this came as a big surprise to me), but there's someone who you can call a Medium Size Fan who seems to have taken it personal when people likes or talks too much about said ship. She'll always post a complain whenever she can, and a lot of people who follow her does too.

I blocked her and the most nasty people who thinks like her. I don't follow the others and actively avoid them. I try not to care about what they say (I know this is easier said than done), and try to focus on what I like. I follow people who like the same stuff as I do. They won't go away, I'm afraid, and it's still possible to read their hate when I'm browsing the tags on mobile, but I'm finally able to enjoy the fandom again. I hope you can do too, OP. :D

There's someone in my main fandom on Tumblr who keeps posting about how she's so over the two most popular characters and she doesn't care about them and she's so sick of them and their fans and it's just getting to the point where I'm like, "If you don't care so much then how about shutting the fuck up about it?" It's not even about the 'don't tag your hate' level for me, I'm just sick of seeing this person make multiple complaining posts every. Single. Day. I can see where someone not fond of these two characters or their ship could get frustrated because it is so pervasive and all, but at the same time it gets so tiring to see the same person complaining over and over again and tagging it with as many fandom tags as possible because heavens forbid everyone not read their super-special complaints. Luckily they use one tag that I'm able to blacklist, but if I'm not on my own computer I don't have that option.

OH my GOD yes I agree so hard with you.

I'm so tempted to send that "shut the fuck up" message to someone exactly like the person you're describing. Maybe we're in the same fandom and we don't know?

But seriously. Tumblr let us block a lot of things, if she's still seeing that is because she wants to, and complaining about stuff we can avoid is just plain silly.

That's fucking annoying. Block all of the offenders, that's what I would do.
