I don't either and I'm always baffled by people who do. I'm into ships for those two specific characters and their particular dynamics. I'm not interested in trying to connect that to any real-world relationships at all, because to me the entire appeal of fiction is that it ISN'T real life.

I can't help but feel that people who do project themselves onto ships or characters must be unhappy with their real lives in some way.

I think it has more to do with people who have an incest kink, not who happen to like a particular ship.

And there's the fact that even for a particular sibling ship the fact that they're related might be distracting and squicky for some people. Though, again, I don't get people who think that everyone has the same reaction.
