It's not a religious community per se, but it's not necessarily atheist-friendly, either. You get LOTS of jokes about how someone must be a fedora-wearing MRA, stuff like that. I don't think people mean it literally, it's just a lulzy knee jerk response that's become a clichè.

I've been an atheist all my life, and I've never had this experience at all.

Maybe, if people call you a reddit neckbeard on a regular basis, it's because you sound like one? I'm sorry, but *atheist are being discriminated against on the internet!!* is so reddit it hurts. If you even vaguely agree with that, you deserve the comparison.

I say it three times: It Is Not About Atheism, It Is Not About Atheism, It Is Not About Atheism. It is not about believing or not believing in a god. It is about specific views within atheism.
