Eh, I don't mind references to a non-canon religious affiliation as long as it doesn't contradict anything we've seen so far in the show. I think it can add an interesting dimension to a character. Not a fan of proselytizing fic, though, and I definitely agree with you when it comes to universes where Earth religions don't exist. Luke Skywalker should not be praying to Jesus.

I do vaguely recall reading a LotR Christian conversion fic out of curiosity. Might've been Harry Potter. Whichever it was, it was... interesting.

I want to headdesk if it was LotR. I personally translate Eru Ilúvatar as being the Christian God merely going by another name, since the whole Ainulindalë and Valaquenta reads as a Creation story.
