Holy crap. I love you for posting a GBS secret.

I stay the hell away from pretty much all music fandoms, but I know what you mean about the banter! Saw them live for the first time back in March, and my friend was all but bouncing in her seat with impatience for them to get on with the music... but I could've listened to them josh with each other half the night.

Agreed! I've only been to two shows, but I loved the banter to bits. The best would be a nice, intimate kitchen party with them, no? Acoustic GBS tunes and endless Alan/Sean banter sounds like a perfect night to me.

Now that would be sweet. I've thought before that they'd be a really fun group of fellows to just shoot the shit and have a beer with. :D

Ooh, two shows? Lucky! I've only been to one, and I know people who've been to upwards of 20 shows. I would gladly do that, man.

Our show was pretty intimate, as concerts go. Four-hundred people, and me and my best friend in the front row, less than two feet away from Alan. Phwew. Sean made me laugh so hard that I fell down. Twice.

Wow, that's awesome! I would pay a lot of money to be included in that group of 400, but to be in the front row?? Crazy!

Yeah. It was sweet. I think the deal is to just live down South--the concert was in Charleston, and they're not as well known the further South you get.

(Unfortunately, it means they hardly come down here. Charleston was still two states away from where I go to school, and crazy-far from where I live the rest of the year).

Being on the Canadian East Coast, you'd think I'd have the opportunity to see more shows than 2, but ... hmm, either they don't like to hang around here or people just aren't telling me when they're playing, lol.

I think that's about the same size our show was (the venue's 350 seats + some standing room, and it was packed pretty full) but my friend and I were seated up in nosebleedville. It was still awesome, but it would've rocked like a rocking thing to be up front!

The fandom, especially over on their official forum, are a pretty swell group of people, worth getting involved with (and not scary like most fandoms).

It's not just the banter, though. There was that, but when I saw some of their music videos ("Mari Mac" and "Turn" come to mind), my 80th thought (the other 79 being various levels of squeeing and fangirling) was "oh crud, gotta keep this away from most of my friends. If they see that little kiss, they're going to go nuts with the slashfic. And I don't want that!...do I?"

But they're a freaking amazing band! I was wondering if anyone else here would even know about them.

I'm from Nova Scotia, they're pretty popular over here. :D

There must not be much of a fanbase on LJ though, eh? I don't think I've ever looked for GBS communities.

Heh, well. I can't say I've never had that problem (not with GBS, but yeeeah I'm no stranger to the occasional thought about things that Should Not Go There). Sometimes it just happens.

Huh, and now you're making me think twice about my policy of avoiding music fandoms by default. ;P I hadn't noticed much of an LJ fanbase either (there's

greatbigsea, but it's a little quiet), so I was happy to see a few fans around here!
