Sorry! That's my own silly reason for not wanting to watch him. It may be nothing like any of your silly reasons.

Wait. Were you talking about 11?

(Anonymous) 2014-05-04 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
D'oh. Yes, I meant Eleven. One day I'll remember how to give pronouns antecedents.

Then I agree wholeheartedly. One of the reasons I can't stand watching him is his face. Blech.

nayrt

I can't speak for anyone else, but I had the exact same opinion as the ayrt when I first started watching him and was sure I'd never get used to it, but after a few episodes I stopped noticing his face at all and now I think it looks just fine. Just a guy's face.

Well, I have other reasons as well. This is a weirder and more petty one but I just hate how abrupt the ending for Ten was. I guess because I was genuinely upset about it. So it was really super sad but suddenly the mood completely changed from somber to GOOFY AWKWARD PERSON!!!

It just made me bitter towards his character. Even nearly a year after I saw that episode, I still feel mad about it.

But...he's the same guy. I mean, he was so depressed, and then his brains were scrambled a bit and he's like OH WAIT WHAT WAS I COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS IS GREAT. It's bittersweet but such a relief that he wasn't hurting so badly anymore and I loved that moment.

I suppose if you were actually suckered by that "some new man walks away" bullshit which is really not what happens at all and has never been the case for the Doctor, it would be off-putting. But like I said, that was bullshit. I love Ten, but he was very messed up in the head, and probably (legitimately) scared that regenerating would make him even more messed up, during those last few eps and what he said says more about his mindstate than the reality of regenerating.

Well, they are the same character but I don't consider any of the doctors the same guy. Different personality, different body, and different (fandom) designation. They may share the same past, but that's it (to me at least).

I just hate how abrupt the ending for Ten was Really? I felt like that ending went on FOREVER, arrrrrrgh.

But no, I know what you mean. It was like, he was gone and then all of sudden 11! One of the myriad of reasons where Moffat's writing as shit.

It wasn't even so much the actual event but more the emotions of the event. It went from super serious to WOO LOOK AT HOW SILLY I AM! It was just way too quick for me.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-04 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
...abrupt? IT WAS AN ETERNITY OF WHINING AND SAYING GOODBYE. Abrupt was the one thing Ten's regeneration was not. Seriously. Ten(nant) whining and bawwwing like a two-year-old "I don'' wanna goooooooooo" was absolutely OTT and way way way way way too long IMO.

I have said this in a couple of other replies, I don't mean the length of the goodbye. I meant abrupt in how quickly the mood changed. It was mood whiplash for me.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-07 08:17 am (UTC)(link)
Hee hee hee... Yes, OMG, it went on forever. Over a full calendar year really.

And oh the whining, the tragedy! Hah hah hah!

nayrt

Out of curiousity, what are some of your other reasons?

c/p from above

This is a weirder and more petty one but I just hate how abrupt the ending for Ten was. I guess because I was genuinely upset about it. So it was really super sad but suddenly the mood completely changed from somber to GOOFY AWKWARD PERSON!!!

It just made me bitter towards his character. Even nearly a year after I saw that episode, I still feel mad about it.

Also, what I have seen about various episodes and plots, has also turned me off of wanting to watch (especially anything having to do with the Weeping Angels. I hated the episode Blink).
