I had an insanely attractive professor this semester for one of my classes. And I'd catch myself staring at him. Frequently. And I feel horrible, because way to objectify some poor guy just trying to do his job. I wouldn't want someone doing it to me. Ugh. I am so glad that class is over. Anyway, secret because wow, me, way to be a dick.

How is that being a dick? You were attracted to someone. You'd catch yourself staring and try to not do it because it was inappropriate to the situation. This is not bad behavior.

I wish this whole tendency for people to feel guilty about their naughty no-no thoughts would die a quiet, dignified death.

I don't see how this is dickish at all. You don't pick who you find attractive, and okay, maybe staring in class isn't the best way to spend your time (and maybe he would've been uncomfortable with it, who knows), but...it doesn't make you a terrible person. It's okay to be attracted to people, and its okay to look.

This is one the most ridiculous things I've ever read. It's okay to look and think dirty thoughts. It's not like you were disturbing class to flirt or making him uncomfortable. Your actions were completely normal and appropriate.

Dude, no. That's normal. You're not a dick. You're a young human with a sex drive.

You're not objectifying someone if you respect them as a human being.

As someone who's seen academic crushes happen from both ends: this is really fucking common.

One year I had this really fit ex-paratrooper guy teaching my Renaissance History class. Swoon.

Oh, been there. Yeah, don't feel bad. I was pretty much in love with one of my professors for four years. Granted, we had an oddly close/jokey/friendly relationship, but... still.
