I'm not sure where you've been hanging out but nowadays I see a lot more hate for Wolverine among X-fans than for Cyclops. Especially after the AvX mess and the Cyclops was Right stuff.

Wolverine just gets the hate because he is in every single title Marvel produces, its overexposure. With the AvX thing, it is more the writers that are copping the heat for that, because despite being over-exposed Wolverine is still popular and Cyclops isn't. Its like how the writers thought that Tony was right throughout Civil War despite the fans screaming "no!" at them. Anyway, with Wolverine slated to die for a while, take some time out in the R&R section of Mutant-Heaven before catching a bus back to canon when he is rested a bit, I expect the hate about the over-exposure will fade a bit.

Yeah, I know why Wolverine is hated these days. But I disagree about AvX. Cyclops is actually popular right now - and his titles sell a lot better than Wolverine's. I see most X-fans agreeing with Cyclops so I think those fans you mention screaming no are mostly on the Avengers corner. Which, hey, it's an obvious reaction.
