You've had some secrets about comics lately, so let me ask: have you guys picked up any new (really or to you) comics lately?

Ugh, that was supposed to say **we've.

I am trying to read the Deadpool series! Keyword is trying. I got them on my kindle and have read one, so that is progress.

Oh I'm enjoying that one, and I had never really read a Deadpool title before. Is the keyword trying for lack of time or are you struggling with it? The first arc was the weakest by far.

Time. Hopefully now that I have no more doctor appointments I can take normal length lunches and read a bit!

Is the first arc the uhh, Circle Chase? Or do you mean into the first arc past the specials?

As for new series, I've picked up and am enjoying Black Widow, The Punisher and Magneto. And Daredevil, but I was already reading the previous volume. I've read the first issue of Elektra and of Iron Fist but I'm still unsure about them.

I think I'm gonna try Rucka's Cyclops (you should all read his great title Lazarus over at Image) and throw in All-New X-Men and Uncanny for good measure.

Lazarus is fantastic! ...That's pretty much all I have to say. I think the last 'new' thing I read was Ms. Marvel, which is good as well.

I suppose Rat Queens is sort of new? That's my favorite right now.

sa: It so is. I tell everyone to read it. Oh that's good to hear about Rat Queens. I picked up #1 for free on Comixology but didn't really know anything about it.

Oh god, when I saw the solicit for Cyclops, I actually told my computer screen, out loud, "Damn it, Marvel. How do you manage to find the one way you could possibly make me buy a Cyclops title?". Because Rucka is that awesome.

Have you seen the preview? It looks pretty good. And you know it's not exactly Cyclops, right?

Batman Eternal is actually pretty good so far!

/co/ currently has the first four issues (it's a weekly) up: http://boards.4chan.org/co/thread/61486149/batman-eternal-month-1-storytime

I also reiterate that everyone should read Batwoman.

Tried the new Ghost Rider series (two issues out so far). Didn't really care for it, but I won't give up on it just yet.

Runaways. I finished the first volume a few days ago (1 - 18, not Pride & Joy). I don't read a lot of comics, but I've been hearing about Runaways on and off for a couple years and it was pretty entertaining. Now I'm craving more comics to read.

I've gone back to 2000AD and Dredd Megazine after a long time, so I'm kinda getting back into the old Thrillpower. As far as Marvel and DC go, I'm cutting down on those. DC have just pissed me off so much I cannot bring myself to give them cash and Marvel just seems stuck in a rut right now (Thunderbolts excepted).

Free Comic Book Day was this weekend. Along with the free ones I picked up the last two issues of Daredevil. I worship at the altar of Chris Samnee.

As should everyone :) I'm really glad he didn't leave the book.

I picked up the new Ms Marvel and enjoyed that, plus a Deadpool trade, which was also entertaining. I also have two Batwoman that I haven't gotten around to yet.

On FCBD I picked up the first trade of Gillen and McKelvie's Phonogram. Mostly because I loved Young Avengers, and kept seeing Phonogram recced in reviews of it. And also the trade of Gillen's Three, because I was missing issue 5 and figured I'd want the collection for lending anyway.

I bought my boyfriend the Pretty Deadly trade on Wednesday, and he picked up the Sex Criminals trade at FCBD, both of which I highly recommend.

I have a giant backlog of comics from the last couple months, so I can't even remember what else I've picked up recently.

I haven't had a chance to go comic shopping yet, but I've got a few on the list for when I do:

The new Ms Marvel, as well as some of the Captain Marvel stuff they did. Some more Batwoman comics. The Winter Soldier arc for Captain America(because I seem to have forgotten most of it :x). And anything else that takes my fancy.

Re: Comics

(Anonymous) 2014-05-06 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
Well I just started reading comics the beginning of last month (Marvel primarily because of sales reasons, and I don't know where to begin on DC). Been rather cheap about comics and have only been buying stuff that's been on sale; luckily I've been reading up on a lot of Marvel's stuff so I know what's been happening. Stuff I read recently was the first six issues of New Avengers Vol. 3, really liking this Illuminati lineup. Also have subscribed to my first crisis event, Original Sin, which will be my first comic series/event that I will be on the ball with.

The comics humble bundle was worth it. I'm getting into Saga, and Rat Queens is an asston of fun.

Re: Comics

(Anonymous) 2014-05-06 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
I read of crapload of comics when I was a kid/teenager - checking out all the old TPBs I could get my hands on from the library, which was a lot because it had a really good collection, and then buying some single issues to keep up with current stuff.

Now I don't really read any, because I can't justify spending the money to buy a comic in terms of price vs entertainment value, and I feel bad about piracy.

Re: Comics

(Anonymous) 2014-05-06 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I'm not sure if you're into Marvel at all, but they have a subscription called Marvel Unlimited which is 70 bucks yearly or 10 monthly and you get access to... they say over 13,000 comics. They add all new comics 3-6 months after they are published.

I just finished the first trade of something called Lazarus by Greg Ruka and I loved it. Looks like the second volume isn't out yet but there are more recent single issues.
