I think anon directly above is confusing the director, Kevin Smith, with the Xena actor, who did die about ten years or so ago.

He's a director. Best known for the Clerks movies.

I think Anons are talking about the director Kevin Smith rather than the Xena actor.

And it was a horse he fell off of, not a balcony, IIRC.
