I don't really have a robot in this fight, but if fanfic writers took commissions my money would be all over them like nutella on toast. There are so many stories I would love to see but don't have the confidence or ability or canon immersion to write myself.

I would pay somebody whose work I love to write all the short "McCharacter and McOther Guy have a hamburger date" fics on such a god damn regular basis. Like with memes and art, sometimes I just want to see someone's take on my dumb ideas. It would be so excellent if my dreams could be made 100% possible.

So much this. I adore rarepairs (endangeredpairs?) and would be thrilled to commission some fanfics. Sadly, they don't float anyone's boat but mine...

You might want to consider approaching some of your favorite fanfics writers with a commission proposal and see if they'd take it.
