Why do you want to commit suicide?

Re: TW suicide

Because I feel that it is illogical to expect that I will somehow be able to do what needs to be done to make a life for myself away from my parents and support myself, given my extreme problems with stress, anxiety, and mental illness. Realistically, my options are either to die, depend on my abusive parents until they kick me into the gutter when I'm thirty or so, or become the world's only sex-repulsed haphephobic prostitute.

It may be illogical.. but it is possible. All you need are the right supports that can help you find services in your area (although, I recognize not all posters may be in an area/country with proper resources).

If you're in the U.S., Lifeline has put me in touch with people and agencies that have helped me get out on my own, and get my issues (stress, anxiety, and mental illness. Sound familiar?) at least a little more manageable.

If you're not, maybe other posters will know of other resources. I wish you all the best!

When you're in situation where you're feeling suicidal, often it's because the situation feels hopeless, like the only way out is suicide.
But that's not true. Suicidal thoughts & feelings of depression make it harder to see a way out. I know because I've been there. But I managed to talk myself out of it.

I don't think less of people who do decide to take their lives. Because it can be so hard to fight that urge.

But the fact that you're posting here, now, means there must be some part of you that wants the situation to be fixed and get better, without having to commit suicide. There's some part of you that wants to live and be happy.

Please hold on to that part. Please take care of yourself. If I was there, I would take care of you, even though I don't know you and you probably live on the other side of the world.

Feeling suicidal is a bad time to make any major decisions - especially one as major as this. Please, before you do anything drastic, at least look for other ways out. Any other options or resources or people who will help you. Many countries will have suicide hotlines that you can call, and that can be a starting point, at least.

Seconding the nonnies above. When a situation is bad enough, it's hard to see how it will ever get better, but sometimes it can.

I wanted to die for a long time when I was young and living at home. All I'd ever known of life was so scary and depressing it didn't seem worthwhile. I didn't kill myself, partially because I was afraid to, but partially because I wanted to wait a couple years and see if it got better. And now I'm really, really glad I did.

If you can't fix your whole problem all at once, it's okay to start small. If you can carve out one thing you like to do, or one place in your life that feels safe, then hey. That's more than you had before.
