HI EVERYBODY: CHALLENGE THREAD

Whoooo it sure took a long time to settle in from moving. But for once, I and my room mate managed to do 90% of the work ourselves.

Unfortunately this meant it took four whole days of 12 hour moving shifts, with barely a lunch break to be had. But now that I'm recovered (and totally unpacked), how about the rest of you tell me about what you've done lately that challenged you?

Could be something physical or mental, academic or work related. Doesn't matter if you succeeded or failed, just tell me which personal giants you faced off against.

I wrote an 8-page paper. The assignment was 12-15 pages, but I've only ever written one other more-than-5-page paper before in my life, so it was both a success and a fail. I'm gonna say success though because I got it done at all, which is what I was mainly struggling with. And I got a B- on it which is a passable grade for me, if only barely.

For college/university or for high school? (I apologize if that offends you, but the age range here seems to be pretty vast some days)

At any rate, you'll get the hang of it with a bit more practice. If it seems like you don't have enough page space and you're coming up short, it's usually a good idea to go back and research a side topic so you have something else to mention.

College/uni, and no offense taken, I know I'm well behind what most people my age can do. Lucky my professor understands. (Probably even lucker I had her last semester as well, so she knows I'm not normally as flaky as I was this time.)

I spent part of the weekend updating my resume, and managed to send out a couple job applications last night! This is huge for me, because every time I even think about job applications, I stress the hell out.

I'm also working on upping my strength at the gym, so I'm trying to keep challenging myself there. I may have been a bit overzealous on increasing my deadlift weight yesterday (accidentally added 30 pounds to my max instead of 15-20), but I did it (with proper form!) and I'm not particularly sore today!

Those are both awesome things. If that were me I would be fearing for my back, which makes the fact that you pulled off the weight increase so easily all the more impressive to me.

Nicely done!

I've been doing more strenuous exercise lately, and more regularly, instead of sitting on my ass.
I've also contacted people I need to contact and got various small jobs done before they can turn into a mess.
I've been writing almost everyday.
And I have successfully resisted the urge to walk in front of a bus.

So you know, I'm keeping my head above water.

Death by bus isn't that sexy. It's extremely unsexy if it doesn't work, moreover, but you're probably aware of that.

All the same those are some pretty good achievements. Be proud, anon.

I wouldn't want to upset other people. Bus & train drivers probably see a few suicides in their careers, and I don't want to add to it.

Thank you.

I wrote an essay about setting in fantasy combined with a fantasy short story. (By short, I mean 9 pages, which is still easily the longest thing I've ever written. High school Honors English I final project.) Not all that impressive relative to some of what I've seen, but it's the longest thing I've ever written, and I'm proud of myself for doing it.

Go you, anon!

Any writing achievement is something to be proud of! :D

Not punching a coworker. Turns out I'm not the only one, either.
