Part of me does ship The Doctor with The Master (I can't help it), but I mostly feel the same. I don't like him involved in romance in canon...for whatever reason it just doesn't work for me. Not with Rose, not with River. I would much prefer him to be 'just friends' with his companions.

To be fair, it's clear RTD kind of shipped Doctor/Master himself with that 'phone sex' conversation in The Sound of Drums.

lol, I've said to myself several times, "Is there any possible way someone could look at this scene and not think it's homoerotic?" I still don't see how such a thing is possible.
