I use tumblr. I just get the sads.

They're not gonna add comments though. They don't want to.

I feel like we had a thread once about "ideal fandom platform", though maybe that was ideal social network? because those are two very different things to me. But anyway, basically it came down to "a mashup of LJ/DW and tumblr" for a lot of people and I would like that too. I would like:

+different kinds of posts: journal posts that can't be shared (but can be linked) and small text/image/video posts that can be shared and will then appear on the feeds of people who follow you
+corollary to above: if multiple friends share the same post, it should only appear ONCE
+NO REBLOGGING TO COMMENT - you can share a thing once, and if someone else wants to share it they need to go to the original post and share it from there, and then each post that contains the thing will have its own nested comments (like on FB, except with better comments)
+EVERYTHING WILL HAVE NESTED COMMENTS
+good filtering for news feed
+PMs easy and separate from askbox or submissions or whateverthefuckelse tumblr does
+communities present
+ability to be friends with someone without seeing some or all of their posts on your newsfeed
+ability to filter other peoples' blogs when you're looking at them (because there are some blogs I like to browse but for example may not want to see their nsfw stuff)
+good easy tagging system including being able to search for multiple tags at once (also a magical bot that kicked out people who refused to tag stuff like triggers, nsfw, spoilers etc. but I guess I can't have my cake and eat it too)

the only thing I would miss is the funny conversations you can see reblogged, because the comments are the best part of the post; however, I think this is outweighed by all the annoying repeated posts that show up and the fact that you can't comment on a single post that stays in one place

If I knew anything about programming maybe I would try to make this happen. Alas, I do not.

We may have. I don't recall.

I like all that you say but I can't help but feel that you could have those conversations?

Ha, neither do I.

eh maybe. If stuff can only be reblogged once from the original source, not really. But people could go to the original source to get the conversation. or, maybe there could be an option to make stuff either rebloggable indefinitely (good for blurbs and pics that generate those conversations) or once (good for serious posts you want localized conversation with or art/writing you did that you want people to be aware of the source for). in fact, it would be awesome if that were part of the setup. I'm adding it to my list. *nods to self*

Maybe, then, they wouldn't have to go to the source but if they comment not on the source it still shows up there?

that's another good thought.
