I knew there must be some people around here who thought that.

Now you've got me thinking about the difference between how I act online and irl. I think I tend to say less of what I'm thinking irl generally. I'm very much of a "consider your audience" mindset. Since on the internet the audience can be anyone, I sometimes end up blurting out more of my thoughts since you never know, one of the dozens or hundreds of people who sees this might actually find it interesting. In real life, I have a better idea of who I'm talking to and what they care about.

I didn't always follow that rule though. To be fair to my friend, this whole thing happened at a point in my life when I was really into queer studies and media and all that because I was just so happy to be out of the closet and able to talk about these things. It was a phase that ended eventually but it was probably irritating for some of my friends to deal with. But I was always willing to agree to disagree on this stuff when she and I had different opinions, so I'm still disappointed that she wasn't willing to do the same.
