Correction. They would have chemistry... if they were in more scenes together. Yeah, they're opposites. It's nice. I get that. Doesn't mean they're not a crack ship.

I don't know why it's apparently a weird thing that I consider it a crack ship. I mean, I do casually ship it too, you know. I'm just not dedicated into making it something it's not.

I'm coming in super-late, and i have a *terrible* memory, but i think the Stiles/Derek 'ship, more than most others, is based on what we *don't* see. Because we see what's on the screen, which = Stiles and Derek not being together much. But then we also have Stiles talking about Kate Argent, like Derek sat down and told him all about that rain wreck. Little things like that that mean at some point, the characters interacted when we didn't see it, because how else does Stiles know that? Even Derek's sister didn't know that.

So, of small things and actor chemistry do a might 'ship grow. :) And, besides, it's fun as hell and i mostly want to take Scott out behind the woodshed and smack him silly, and Isaac and Chris Argent, frankly, are intriguing, and Boyd+Erica 4evah!!! (also Lydia and Allison were totally dating) so....

Or... he learned it a multitude of other ways. One being Kate herself. She seemed very open about what she did. He could have learned from Peter, or Scott, or Allison. Why them? Because they all seem to know it too. I also don't give enough credit to the writer for thinking that through. He probably just forgot not everyone knew shit. He's seriously not that great. Plus, I find people pair them up more because they're opposites. They would make for great chemistry if they were actually in meaningful shit together. Derek is a great Straight Man to Stile's brand of funny. It's sad they don't every get to use that potential.

And I didn't say I don't like the ship. I ship it. I just think it's crack because to me, it is. (I gave my definition of a crack ship to an anon and Sterek fits that definition. Lydia/Allison doesn't, however, as an example.)

It's not an insult by saying the ship is crack. Nor is it saying that the shippers are delusional if they like it. As I said, I like it. It's delusional if they believe it to be canon, which, you know, it's not.

Plus, I have no doubt the actors are friends but a lot of what we see on camera of them was purposefully done to increase ratings.

I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade and people coming to me to defend their ship are barking up the wrong tree. I'm in the parade. Why would I want to rain on it? Unless the rain is chocolate or something. I would rain that magical stuff with no apologies.

Sure, or - the characters had conversations that we didn't see. Frankly, for me, it's about 100 times more fun and interesting to go *there*, and Teen Wolf the show, frankly, is so incredibly confused and continuity-screwed and just...illogical and *annoying* that i like fanon better nine times out of ten.

He gave us an interesting framework, and fandom has fleshed it out in so many better ways.

You realize we're arguing fanon, right? Someone can get into something for the fanon, sure. Of course, there has to be people who create that fanon first. So yeah, sure, the pairing is popular for the fanon that's been created. However, it was popular before that fanon existed. So the basis has to rely on canon somewhere, which it why I think the opposites attract thing comes in. Then fanon and people liked that. Then super ship. At least that's how I think it went down timeline wise.

Not saying I don't like some of the fanon, some. The fanon doesn't make it not a crack ship though. But some of it's quite nice. I like it.

I have to agree that there are a lot of better writers in the fanon than canon. Canon is crazy. I admitted elsewhere I thought it was a shitty show. Fanon could make it a decent show because at least they're consistent. Canon has plot holes a mile wide.

Oh, no arguing. Just putting my 'druthers' out there. So long as everybody has fun, that's what matters, to me at least. I detest the kind of fandom 'stuff' that is mostly about being unhappy, bitching, moaning, and spite.

Bring on the fic!

It's kind of like saying 'i would rather'. 'If i had my druthers, I'd never wear anything but bunny slippers'.
