I will absolutely take retiring a character (meaning that character is at least still around, or still exists in terms of the story universe) over the crap DC's been pulling where when they want to update a character they just literally recreate everything about them but the name and then say it's the same character (meaning that you'll never see the old character again ever).

sa: Oh I'm sorry. I don't really read DC but that does sound bad. You're right, we still have old Nick Fury, he shows up from time to time and even if they kill him, he'll come back eventually as the same guy.
