Depends on the era, he's been everything from force of nature, to evil foe, to almost as bad as the commies who don't drink pepsi (okay that was just the Godzilla 85 US Cut'n'Dub version) to heroic protector of planet earth, to rescuing a damn boatload of dumb kids every Saturday.
