Riiiight. Because everybody knows it's still 1986, Saturday Night Live skits never joke or exaggerate, and all actors are William Shatner.

Whatever, OP.

I think OPs point is that it colored their views?

Though I approve of the idea that this secret actually means the OP believes every actor is secretly William Shatner, judging us all.

well OP said that they saw it as a child; I can see not understanding the context and then having that color the way you think. I don't consider myself Catholic anymore in any sense but some of the things I was told by nuns in my Catholic school still change the way I feel sometimes.

Given that SNL airs at 11:30ish on Saturday nights, where were the OP's parents that they were letting the OP watch SNL that late at night?

I used to watch SNL on videotape when I was a kid... I was a big Blues Brothers fan.

I'm not the OP but I watched a lot of late night television growing up. I managed to make it to adulthood without any lingering effects...other than side-eyeing Dennis Hopper after one very surreal skit involving him and an oxygen tank.

When I was a kid (1994ish), SNL was re-broadcast on Comedy Central in the middle of the afternoon. They were usually pretty old episodes, but they definitely aired. If you had a summer break and access to the tv? I'm not surprised you'd see it.

OH NO SOMEONE LET THEIR KID STAY UP LATE WHAT TERRIBLE PARENTS THEY MUST BE
