I think some of the actors/talent cringe inside, having to hug and gladhand so many people at cons who perhaps are sick, didn't remember to put on deodorant or are overly touchy feely. Or they themselves are just shy at heart. I give them credit for "acting" friendly even if they do get paid. Some actors/singers/etc. don't bother with even the veneer of niceness and those I do judge somewhat harshly.

And some honestly enjoy the interaction and/or the adulation.
