I love con staff. <3 Last year, my friend and I were accosted right outside of the con who were selling "CD's", and really in your face/creepy, you know? And we told con staff, and they were gone when we got back to the con!

Seriously, you guys are awesome, and I totally understand the "can't be everywhere" situation.

I'll show my appreciation for con staff here too, while I've been to some poorly managed cons in the past, the ones I've been to where the staff cares and does their job properly have been great, and it really helps the atmosphere when you've got competent security that's willing to crack down on the more belligerent or creepy fans.

It's tough, they are dealing with the geekiest sides of fandoms, cons always attract a certain number of socially maladjusted individuals, probably suffering from any number of mental disorders, and a con is a sometimes overwhelming morass of people, there are bound to be incidents, and I've seen a lot in my 14 years as a congoer (not just for geeky stuff either, the worst brawl I've ever seen was at a model train convention, 3 people hospitalized.

Good security teams always have my respect, and it is the prompt and professional response of con staff that keeps me coming back to my favorite conventions time and time again. So yes, my appreciation goes out to those that volunteer their time and effort to improving the experiences of those around them.
