I refuse to follow people on tumblr that put their gender/sexuality in their blog description.

While the overelaborate otherkin/transracial stuff is silly, what's wrong with simply saying something like, "I'm a lesbian from New York and I like [some fandoms]". It's a simple fact, and an indication of some of the content of my tumblr. IDGI.

I think you're being harsh. There's nothing wrong with putting your gender in your blog description as long as it's not a made-up, special snowflake gender. On the other hand, we do not need to know about your sexuality.

Me too. Unless they are running a something like a gay pride/community help tumblr. Otherwise, it just screams "My personality sucks and I don't want to work on making myself interesting through hard work and developing skills/talents, so I am going to make my gender/sexuality my entire talking point to cover up this fact."

It just screams lazy hack to me.

Same. This issue is really, really overblown.

I only ever make exceptions for trans people who put their pronouns in their description.

Me too, but only if their sexuality is straight. If they're gay then I'm more likely to follow them.
It just feels like feeling the need of pointing out your heteroness is more annoying than the reverse.
