Obviously, but that doesn't mean people don't look at media and wonder if that's real life for somebody and if they just aren't capable enough/lucky enough to have that kind of deep friendship. Being exposed to other people's relationships, even fictional relationships, makes you wonder about your own; it's a thing.

But if someone can't separate reality from fiction, isn't that kind of a sign of immaturity?

Look, I read slash, and I enjoy it, but I realize a lot of it is far removed from reality. Most people don't have these profound passionate unbreakable bonds that transcend a "normal relationship." Gay guys have healthy, happy relationships like straight people. Gay guys cheat on each other like straight people. Gay guys complain about their significant other like straight people.

I feel like the problem is that the OP just flat-out doesn't know any gay guys or something because I can't imagine having this mentality.
