Ew, bad counselor. Bad. Seriously, they should have picked up on the fact that you were probably talking either about yourself or someone you knew, and to be so dismissive and rude? Especially considering that she's supposed to HELP people who have issues like that, not mock them? I hope you find someone else who is more helpful (ideally, who you don't feel uncomfortable about talking to about stuff, so you can say it straight instead of dancing around with hypotheticals).

I hope things get better for you, OP. I understand being scared of something like that as a kid, and I'm sorry it's stuck with you like this. :(
